Mahindra, the Indian manufacturer best known for its solid and rugged SUVs, has taken the market by surprise with a launch that seems straight out of Gotham City. The Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition is an all-electric SUV that not only impresses with its futuristic and aggressive design but also makes history as the first production car officially licensed by Warner Bros. to carry the Batman name. With this special edition, Mahindra combines electric mobility, luxury, and pop culture in a single package.
The exterior design is a direct tribute to the Dark Knight. Finished in satin black with golden accents on the chassis and brakes, the SUV exudes power and sophistication from every angle. It features 20-inch wheels and multiple bat emblems inspired by Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, placed on the wheel hubs, fenders, tailgate, and even the roof. One of its most eye-catching details is the ability to project the Bat-Signal onto the ground from the side mirrors, a playful reference to the superhero’s cinematic universe. Inside the cabin, Batman’s presence is unmistakable. Emblems adorn the boost button, seats, headrests, and even the seatbelts.
Premium materials enhance the atmosphere, with dark leather, Alcantara, and gold sepia stitching, as well as golden accents on the steering wheel, electronic parking brake, and dashboard. Each unit includes a numbered Batman Edition plaque on the instrument panel, reinforcing its collectible nature. Adding to the experience, the audio system plays special Batman sounds when the car is started or shut down, creating a driving sensation that feels truly unique. Performance lives up to the image.
The Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition is powered by an electric motor delivering 208 kW, equivalent to 282 horsepower, with 380 Nm of torque. Its 79 kWh battery provides a driving range of up to 600 kilometers under Indian standards, while fast charging allows the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW charger. The special boost button adds an extra surge of acceleration, giving drivers the dramatic feel of commanding a vehicle fit for Gotham City.
Practicality has not been sacrificed, with up to 630 liters of luggage capacity and a full suite of advanced connectivity and driver assistance systems. According to Mahindra’s design chief, Pratap Bose, the aim was to create a car that feels like owning a piece of cinematic history, and indeed every angle of the vehicle pays tribute to Nolan’s films. Warner Bros. has also embraced the project, with Vikram Sharma, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros.
Discovery, emphasizing that Batman represents innovation, strength, and the courage to break boundaries—qualities that this special edition brings to the streets. Production is limited to just 999 units, all destined for the Indian market. Reservations opened on August 23, 2025, and deliveries began on September 20, 2025, coinciding with International Batman Day.
The price, equivalent to around 31,000 euros, is considered a bargain by European standards but an aspirational dream for Indian fans, with all units selling out within minutes of launch. Far from being just a marketing gimmick, the Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition demonstrates the growing confidence of India’s automotive industry in blending cutting-edge technology with pop culture appeal.
Mahindra has already announced plans for more models in the BE series to follow this path, combining lifestyle, iconic design, and electric innovation. With this SUV, the brand opens a gateway to international recognition, positioning itself as a manufacturer ready to break borders and attract global attention well beyond India.
