A white BMW motorcycle signed by the Pope will be auctioned this Saturday in Munich, with an estimate of €40,000 to €60,000 (≈ $46,200 to $69,300, using the October 14, 2025 reference rate).
The initiative channels a highly symbolic object toward a concrete cause: one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Missio Austria to finance the construction of a school in Madagascar. The motorcycle, conceived as a visual nod to the popemobile, was presented at the Vatican in September.
During that event, the Pontiff signed it, sat on the seat, and blessed it, after a group of “Jesus Bikers” rode the piece from the outskirts of Frankfurt am Main to St. Peter’s Square. The sale will be conducted in Munich with a public catalog and pre-registration for bidders. Organizers note that the lot will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity and provenance documentation, providing assurances to collectors and foundations.
Missio Austria said the funds will be applied to specific budget lines of the education project in Madagascar: classrooms, materials, and school equipment, with traceability and accountability mechanisms. The expectation is for measurable impact from the project’s first milestones.
The auction follows a line of solidarity campaigns tied to objects bearing a papal signature. The goal is simple yet ambitious: to turn a unique piece into real opportunities for children, drawing donors from different countries around a story that brings together culture, faith, and philanthropy.
