IBM, in collaboration with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), unveiled on Monday an innovative series of AI-powered digital experiences designed to transform the way fans engage with the 2025 US Open, taking place from August 18 to September 7 in New York.
Among the most notable innovations is Match Chat, an AI assistant that will answer questions in real time during and after all 254 singles matches, providing instant context and insights ranging from statistics to historical facts.
Another highlight is a revamped SlamTracker, capable of projecting win probabilities live for each player by leveraging advanced models that integrate past performance with real-time metrics. Additionally, the Key Points feature, built with IBM’s watsonx platform, condenses articles, reports, and analyses into just three takeaways, allowing fans to quickly access the most relevant information from every match.
According to IBM, these innovations reflect the growing demand for personalized, agile, and digital experiences that keep audiences closer to the action even if they are not physically present in the stadium. A global survey commissioned by the company revealed that 86% of tennis fans positively value AI-driven features, highlighting live updates, instant summaries, and personalized content as the most appreciated elements.
With these tools, the USTA aims to strengthen its connection with its worldwide audience, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can go beyond the business world to deliver entertainment, interactivity, and added value in a world-class sporting event.
