The White House has created an official TikTok account. The account “@whitehouse” officially began operating on Tuesday night (local time) to communicate the policies of the President of the United States, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
“The Trump administration is committed to communicating the historic successes that President Trump has delivered to the American people to as many audiences and platforms as possible,” Leavitt stated. U.S. President Donald Trump has a fondness for the popular app, which has more than 150 million users in the United States.
He credits it with helping him gain support among young voters when he defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the November 2024 presidential election. The goal is to build on these successes and communicate in a way no government has done before, Trump’s press secretary explained.
Previous intelligence assessments had said that the owners of the short-video app are indebted to the Chinese government and that it could be used to influence Americans.
