Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has spoken publicly for the first time about the political direction her late husband wished to see for the movement they both helped shape. In an interview with journalist Megyn Kelly, Erika revealed that in some of their final conversations, Charlie expressed a strong desire for Turning Point USA—the youth organization he built into a major conservative force—to eventually support a JD Vance presidential bid in 2028.
According to her, it was one of the projects he felt most passionate about. Reports from ABC and CNN noted that discussions within Turning Point were already underway regarding a potential endorsement of Vance, who currently serves as Vice President of the United States. Charlie Kirk, one of the most influential voices in the MAGA movement and a prominent supporter of President Trump, died on September 10 after being shot during an event at a university in Utah—a tragedy that deeply shook the conservative community. The image sparked speculation online, prompting Erika to explain the emotional context. She said that moments earlier, a tribute video of her late husband had been played, leaving her visibly overwhelmed. Vance approached to offer comfort, and they shared a brief embrace.
“If anyone wants to take it out of context, they’re free to do so,” she stated. For now, JD Vance has taken no formal steps toward a 2028 presidential run. In recent comments to Fox News, he said his priority is fulfilling his responsibilities as Vice President and focusing on the 2026 midterm elections. After that, he intends to sit down with President Trump to discuss whether launching a presidential campaign would make sense.
