Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has firmly rejected accusations filed before the International Criminal Court (ICC) alleging her complicity in the so-called “genocide” in the Gaza Strip. The complaint also targets Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, and Leonardo CEO Roberto Cingolani. Speaking on the television program “Porta a Porta” aired on Rai1, Meloni described the move as an unprecedented political attack. “I have been reported to the ICC for complicity in genocide.

I don’t think there’s a comparable case in the world or in recent history where such a charge has been made against a democratic government,” she stated with visible indignation. Meloni insisted that Italy has not approved any new arms deliveries to Israel in the past two years, stressing that her country maintains one of the strictest export policies in Europe.

“France made a similar decision a year after us, Germany only did so in August, and the United Kingdom suspended merely a fraction of its shipments. Italy, on the other hand, halted authorizations long before the latest escalation in Gaza,” she emphasized.

The Italian leader also expressed concern about the increasingly hostile political climate in her country. “I no longer count the death threats. Much of this aggression stems from irresponsible rhetoric — from those who claim that I have blood on my hands or that this government is complicit in war crimes,” she said in a somber tone.

Marking three years in office this October, Meloni reaffirmed her commitment to defending Italy’s position on the international stage and said she would not allow “baseless accusations” to tarnish the country’s reputation.
